What You Are was recorded in 2002 in the inner western suburbs of Sydney Australia where I was gigging with my rockin' 4 piece band for a few years. All original songs - I'm so Into What You Are tells the story of a girl who takes the courage to get up one more time and listen to the still small voice inside telling her to believe, she's worth the effort. Blue, Another Bloody Valentine's Day, Closer, Follow Me and the title track - I’m So Into What You Are. Alternative covers appear here, along with CD insert art and credits.
He Hears Me was my 1st release. 20 songs, 7 original. These songs are very personal and chosen for the significance they had in my childhood, growing up in church in the 70's . The hymns are reworked and reharmonised in a jazz style, the 70's pop gospel uniquely arranged and my original worship music. There's a touch of my love for black gospel in there too. This album is spiritual and inspirational . It celebrates and speaks of my Jesus based faith and relationship, the foundation of my life, sans the organised religion. The Morning Time - is a song that I wrote in the style of a madrigal , but with instruments. Madrigals were traditionally voice only , a multi part accapella vocal piece, but later they did incorporate instruments. This is the story of a woman waiting for her husband to return from war sometime around the American Civil War period.
The vocal is clear, the heartbeat of the song is the acoustic guitar , the mandolin gives it a traditional Old English feel and the backing harmonies are complex counterpoint sections of call and response both lyrically and musically . The strings, sometimes soothing sometimes menacing, follow the story line .
